mbs direct / barnes & noble education ux + redesign

mbs/barnes & noble education, textbooks.com’s parent company, builds and manages brick + mortars and online bookstores for more than 1000 high schools and colleges, including snhu. we redesigned the online bookstore – which was templatized for efficiencies, while being customizable by school – head to toe. the ux strategy was to integrate each school’s course catalog (to minimize ordering mistakes and returns) and simplify the cart flow.

pitched this winning fortune cookie concept, a sharp left turn away from our then branding. turned familiar fortunes into zen-ified promotional messaging with legs: carried through 6 weeks of emails, with several gif and a/b testing versions.
